What and how much to feed a Groodle

When it comes to feeding your Groodle, it's important to choose a high-quality, dry dog food that is specifically formulated for medium to large breeds. Look for a brand that lists real meat as the first ingredient, and contains a balance of essential nutrients like protein, fat, and carbohydrates. We personally recommend Advance as a great option for high quality and affordable dog food.

The amount of food your Groodle needs will depend on their age, weight, and activity level. As a general rule, adult Groodles should be fed around 2 cups of dry food twice per day. Puppies, however, need to be fed more frequently throughout the day to support their growth and development.

To mix it up we feed our dogs Advance wet food or mince meat mixed in with the dry food for dinner. And the ultimate treat: chicken necks! Especially frozen to cool down in summer, the dogs absolutely love it!

However hard it is to resist their puppy eyes begging for treats (believe me I can relate!!), please do keep in mind that overfeeding your dog can lead to obesity, which can increase the risk of health problems like joint issues and heart disease. So instead of more food treats, consider treating your mate to a good cuddle - they will love it just as much, I promise!

Why not get a Groodle?

While we love Groodles and think they make amazing pets for many families, they may not be the right fit for everyone. It's important to consider your lifestyle and needs before bringing any pet into your home.

One reason why a Groodle may not be the right choice for you is if you have severe allergies. While Groodles are considered hypoallergenic, no dog breed is completely allergy-free, and some individuals may still have allergic reactions to Groodles.

Another reason why a Groodle may not be the right fit for you is if you're not able to commit to the time and effort required for their grooming needs. Groodles have a thick and curly coat that requires regular brushing and grooming to prevent matting and tangles. If you're not willing or able to commit to this level of grooming, then a Groodle may not be the right choice for you.

Finally, if you're looking for a dog that can be left alone for long periods of time or require little exercise, a Groodle may not be the best fit. Groodles are energetic dogs that require daily exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. They thrive on human interaction and companionship, and may become anxious or destructive if left alone for extended periods of time.

Ultimately, the decision to bring a Groodle into your home should be based on careful consideration of your lifestyle, needs, and ability to provide for the dog's well-being.
